Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the Media and Communications Officer, and in close coordination with relevant programme units, the Communications Associate supports the development and implementation of communication and visibility activities for IOM Guinea.
The incumbent will contribute to the production, adaptation and dissemination of communication content in support of the Country Office's strategic priorities, donor visibility requirements and public information efforts. The role includes support to digital communication, content collection from the field, organization of communication materials, media and event-related tasks, and general administrative support to the Communications Unit.
Responsibilities
- Support the production, drafting, editing and dissemination of communication and visibility content for IOM Guinea, including social media posts, web stories, human-interest stories, briefing notes, talking points, captions and other public information materials.
- Assist in collecting communication materials from programme teams and field activities, including photos, videos, testimonials, background information and success stories, in line with IOM communication standards.
- Support the management and updating of IOM Guinea's digital communication platforms, including social media channels and web content, in coordination with the Media and Communications Officer.
- Assist in monitoring social media performance and audience engagement, and contribute to the preparation of basic analytics and communication reports.
- Provide support for the preparation and visibility of events, campaigns, field visits, missions and official communications initiatives, including logistical and administrative arrangements when required.
- Maintain organized files and archives of communication products, photos, videos, publications, branding assets, consent forms and related materials.
- Support compliance with donor visibility requirements and IOM branding guidelines across communication materials and public-facing products.
- Provide administrative support to the Communications Unit, including scheduling, correspondence, document preparation, filing and coordination with internal units and external counterparts, as required.
- Assist in liaising with relevant service providers, media representatives, photographers, videographers, designers and printers, as requested.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor's degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field with three (03) years of relevant experience
- Or a high school diploma with at least five years of relevant professional experience, including administrative support in a communications setting.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
- Experience in communication, public information, media support, digital communication, content production or a related field.
- Experience in drafting and editing communication materials for institutional or development-related activities.
- Experience in managing or supporting social media content and digital communication platforms.
- Experience in photography, videography, graphic design or multimedia content production is an advantage.
- Experience in supporting events, campaigns, field missions or visibility activities is an advantage.
- Experience working with international organizations, NGOs, media institutions or development partners is an asset.
Skills
- In depth knowledge of Public health activities such as immunization.
- Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming.
Languages
All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish) and National.
Knowledge of English and one of Guinea's local languages would be an asset.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
